The father and son team of Stephen and Michael McConville teamed up to take division two of the AIRO Insurance Is Included With AIRO Membership Handicap Hurdle with Flashthelights at Naas.
The six-year-old gelding was never too far from the pace and struck the front at the penultimate flight.
The 12/1 shot, who showed some promise at Thurles earlier this month, got well on top on the run-in and stayed on well to beat Johanna Yeats by five lengths. Light Heidi kept on nicely after the last to take third, with Chapel Street completing the places in fourth.
Portadown-based Michael McConville was bridging a gap of over ten years since recording his two previous successes both aboard Leggy Lad back in 2011.
Michael McConville said, “That’s my first winner for a good few years. I had a break for a wee while so it’s great to get back and ride a winner again.
“He’s done it nicely in the end. He’s been progressing his last few runs and as long as he kept progressing we knew he’d be thereabouts today.”
