Sean Flanagan completed a quickfire 53/1 double at Tramore this afternoon as Roxhill Roise again showed her liking for this venue in the Book A Table For New Years Day Mares Handicap Hurdle.
The David O’Brien-trained six-year-old, successful in a maiden over course and distance back in April, was again prominent throughout and kept on well in the closing stages to get the better of Lilian Bland by half a length.
O’Brien said, “She’s a lovely mare and I’m delighted for the lads (Cairde Gaoil Syndicate).
“She’d a good run back last month in Gowran but then got an infection with a tiny bit of birch which set her back a bit. The vet was very good and got her sorted.
“I was a little concerned about the ground after missing a bit of work, but she’s done it well.
“He said she was a bit keen so there is still a bit of improvement in her. She’ll make a nice mare over fences as she won her point-to-point well.”
Flanagan was also on the mark aboard The Great Nudie (5/1) in the previous race, the mares’ maiden hurdle.
Maid Of The Moon was nearly five lengths further back in third.
