Five-Up for Carthalawn
Carthalawn has been on the go a long time now but after returning to form last time, Charles Byrnes' gelding registered his fifth career success in the Mallow Handicap Hurdle under Davy Russell.
The chestnut chased the clear leader, Lakil House all the way, taking over before the second last, going on to account for that rival by six lengths.
Byrnes said of his 9/2 winner (from 6s): "He ran well the last day at Thurles and Davy thought he could win a handicap off his mark (he was put up a pound for that third-placed effort). He may go now for a two mile handicap at Leopardstown over Christmas." (EM)
