Cloughjordan trainer/rider Denis Hogan was on the mark in the Follow Kilbeggan On Twitter Maiden Hurdle where Fiosrach recorded a convincing success.
The five-year-old gelding scored twice on the flat last year for Jim Bolger, and her task was eased here when 2/1 favourite was hampered at the first flight and dislodged Luke Dempsey.
Hogan sent the 5/1 winner to the front approaching the straight, and he kept on really well to readily beat Aunt Alice by five and a half lengths. Rufino was a further length and three quarters adrift in third.
Hogan said, "I didn't realise that the favourite went at the first, and I didn't think that we could give her two stone.
"He's rated 98 and didn't need to be much more to win it. He'll mix it with the flat and loves a cut. It's perfect ground and Lorcan Wyer and his team have done a perfect job."
Owner Kevin McConnell made the trip down from Co. Tyrone to see his red and white colours carried to success.
