Final completes memorable day for Winters & Sheahans
On an afternoon that will live long in the memory of trainer Mick Winters and the Sheahan family (from Killarney), Final Question added to the gains of For Bill at Fairyhouse, when he landed a gamble (4s on track, bigger earlier, into 5/2) in the concluding O2 Store Mallow Handicap Steeplechase.
The son of Welsh Lion (stands with the breeders, the Sheahans) got the better of a protracted duel with Island Wood up the straight to prevail by three lengths.
Winning rider, Donal MacAuley is also a Corkman, like Winters. The latter had earlier seen Davy Russell guide his star mare, For Bill to Grade 3 success up at Fairyhouse.
Final Question was a sixth poor outcome for the bookmakers on the day (their only two 'results' coming in the shapes of Florida Express and Musical Review .
