Fancy A Cosmo (15/2) was the 14-lengths winner of Wexford's opening Shamrock Enterprises Maiden Hurdle today and in the process booked his Galway festival ticket for his owners the Pints & Bubbles Syndicate.
The Donagh Meyler-partnered six-year-old went clear of chasing, 110-rated Suttons Hill in the home straight and extended his advantage to the line.
Winning trainer Ray Cody was bettering yesterday's Tipperary success with his Watch The Weather by five lengths and reported “we said we would chance Fancy A Cosmo back in maiden company as he has so much experience over hurdles.
“It looked a very competitive race on paper but I definitely thought that he would be there or thereabouts because he was in brilliant form at home. He likes nice ground and today I just thought he looked as good as I've ever had him. His coat seemed to be that bit better than it was. He was very fit and very well and I'd say he is just coming right.
“He had put two good runs together and I thought if he turned up again today that he would be bang there.
"I hope the handicapper won't be too hard on him now. He was rated 104 and the highest with a rating in this race was 110. We will find something in Galway for him now - the lads are from there."
