The Fergal Lynch ridden, Harry Trotter nailed In Salutem on the line in the Summer Family Day On 14th July Rated Race at Fairyhouse – the verdict being a nose.
There were only five runners here with the expected favourite, Burn The Boats missing this assignment owing to a temperature.
Despite the small field, well-backed market-leader, Yulong Baoju (3s this morning into 13/8) had to be switched to get a run – ended up in fourth – whilst Talitha Kum was squeezed up in third close home. There was no alteration following a steward's enquiry.
After Lynch had got Harry Trotter up to deny the pace-setter, In Salutem, winning trainer David Marnane said: "We hope to run him in the Paddy Power (the Scurry at the Curragh on Derby weekend) and hopefully the handicapper won't be too hard on him for that.
"I'm happy with that as we've had a few unlucky ones in the last week. He probably wants to run in a handicap where he'd get a bit of cover – preferably with not too big a weight." (AM & EM)
