The 2016 season at the Curragh comes to a close this afternoon, with big fields the order of the day.
Twenty-six horses have been declared for the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden, with 10 newcomers in the line-up. Feathery went down by just a head at Tipperary recently and she is sure to prove popular with punters, while Aneen who is a half-sister to Irish 2,000 Guineas hero Awtaad, is another interesting contender. Feeling Easy won over the course and distance recently and she will bid to follow up in the Go Racing In Kildare 2017 Membership Handicap, with young apprentice Danny Sheehy taking off a valuable 10lb.
The daughter of Bushranger faces 14 rivals in this seven-furlong contest, with Emperor Bob, Truffles Texas Rock and Fit For Function among her chief opponents.
Another massive field of 26 will go to post for www.curragh.ie Handicap, with Double Fast Doonard Prince Full Shilling and Secret Path a few for the shortlist in this ultra-competitive heat. Diodorus Galilean Gino Severini Grandee and World War look the ones to focus on in the fourth, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden, while Alyssum might be able to take the fifth, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden.
The Guy And Anne - 50 Years Wed Today Handicap is another wide-open contest, with Vastonea Kubali Love In The Sun Dancing Noretta and Jaqen H'Ghar a few to keep in mind here.
The Curragh Racecourse Finale Of 2016 Handicap rounds off proceedings, with Tempo Mac Camlann Bog War and Plain Talking all likely to feature prominently in the betting for this mile-and-a-half event.
