Favori Logique (4/6f) completed a hat-trick of consecutive wins for 7lbs claimer Shane O'Callaghan today, making use of a lower chase rating when landing Ballinrobe's Good Luck To Mayo Handicap Chase for trainer Ross O'Sullivan.
By Denham Red, the same sire of Un De Sceaux, the six year old won twice over hurdles last month, thus improving his rating in that sphere to 115 and today reverted to fences rated 21lbs lower, at 94.
O'Callaghan steered a safe passage on Favori Logique, winning by ten lengths, and afterwards trainer O’Sullivan stated “on his hurdle mark he was well treated and he’s loving life at the minute.
“It’s great to get a hat-trick out of him and it’s great for Shane as well. He’s proven that he can ride over fences as well as hurdles and is great value for his 7lb. He sits nice and quiet over a fence and is a very hard working fella who is in Ted’s (Walsh) every day.”
He added “they are calling it soft but it’s not that bad and he’s a horse that you wouldn’t run on winter heavy ground any more. He had all his jumping experience over fences during the winter on winter tracks and he’s getting the benefit of that now.
“The owner Pat Burke is from Wicklow. He had a couple of horses a good few years ago but this is his first horse for a while so he’s been very lucky.”
