Fastidious shed his maiden tag at the 11th time of asking when securing a comfortable win under Pat Smullen at Gowran Park.
The well-backed 7/4 favourite (from an opening show of 9/4) made most and was a length and three parts in front of Iveta (14/1) at the finish. The pair were clear of Jennys Lane (100/1) in third, beaten six lengths by the winner. So Devoted (33/1) kept on nicely from the rear to finish fourth.
Kris Weld, assistant trainer to his father Dermot, said: “He likes it here and always seems to run well at this track.
“He was certainly due that and has done it nicely.”
Fastidious had been beaten a neck over course and distance on September 5 when also trying to make all.
This winner moved Pat Smullen on to 71 for the season. He is one behind Joseph O’Brien in the race for the jockeys’ title.
