Bridgets Pet under Danny Mullins, finished with a wet sail to get his head in front close home for a last gasp win in the Tote Jackpot Maiden Hurdle at Naas today.
Mullins’ mount was under pressure in eighth place jumping the second last flight, and while the both Ruby Walsh (Lord Gale) and Davy Russell (Troubled) appeared set to fight out the finish, Bridgets Pet finished strongly to wear down his rivals on the run-in, scoring a half length win over Troubled
Afterwards winning trainer and father of the winning jockey Tony Mullins said “the heavy ground is the key to Bridgets Pet - he stayed on in heavy ground at Galway and did the same today. I imagine he won’t be asked to race on fast ground and the Purcell Hurdle at Thurles in March may be the race for him next.”
