Jumps trainer Pat Fahy recorded his first winner at the Curragh today as his J.P.McManus owned Western Boy maintained his unbeaten flat-races record in the Killashee Handicap under Fran Berry.
The son of Antonius Pius, previously successful in a Killarney flat maiden in July, travelled well into contention and while clear under a furlong out, did tire in the closing stages before holding on for a length win over Grecian Tiger
However today Fahy stated "I'm delighted as that's my first winner at the Curragh; I've gone close before and been beaten heads and necks, and I thought it would never come.
"We'll try and find something similar, and stick to the flat for the time being."
Western Boy's previous start was when pulled up over hurdles at the Galway Festival and prior to his Killarney win, had failed to win in 11 jumps starts.
