With second favourite Raya Time departing very early on, the 1/5 favourite Felix Desjy had an even more straightforward task in the Avenue Hotel Beginners’ Chase.
He was prominent throughout and, although a little novicey at one or two, came home a facile 31 length winner from Port Rashid (18/1).
The former Grade One-winning novice hurdler was making it seven wins from 15 starts under Rules, putting behind him an early fall on his previous outing in the Galway Hurdle.
Winning trainer Gordon Elliott commented on the phone: That was great and I'm delighted with him. There is a Graded race next week but that will come too soon and he will probably be aimed at the Craddockstown Novice Chase at Punchestown in November."
Winning rider Jack Kennedy remarked: "All he had to do was jump around really and he put in a brilliant round of jumping. He was a little bit long at the last down the back but other than that he was brilliant.
"He is unbelievable over a fence so he'll be exciting going back into better races again."
