A son of Saint Des Saints gave Gigginstown House Stud and Colm Murphy a famous day at Down Royal back in November 2011 when Quito De La Roque landed the James Nicholson. Express Du Berlais has all the same connections and he took today's Bet With The Tote Handicap Hurdle at the Maze under Brian Cawley.
Also in common with Quito De La Roque, Express Du Berlais is a former winner 'between the flags' and a better jump at the last on this occasion saw him gain the upper hand on his way to a one length victory over Vincent Row
Cawley remarked: "He gave me a great ride. If anything he was idling between the last two. He jumped super and enjoyed the ground. He'll be a nice horse for over a fence."
Of course Colm Murphy went on to bring up an across the card double at Wexford with Mister Hotelier (MG & EM)
