After his near miss with Tarnawa in yesterday’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, Dermot Weld was quickly back amongst the winners when Enthrallment (7/2) landed the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.
Pushed along in sixth turning for home, the Fastnet Rock colt stayed on well in the straight and led over fifty yards out before going on defeat Zoffman by three quarters of a length.
The winner, a half-brother to dual Listed winner Red Stars, had finished fifth on his debut at the Curragh in August.
Kris Weld, assistant to his father, said: “He is a lovely horse, hopefully he has the makings of a nice staying three-year-old.
“He ran well in the Curragh first time out, has come here today and done that nicely and Chris has ridden him very, very well.
"The Eyrefield Stakes will be a distinct possibility and we'll see how he comes out of this."
Reflecting on the stable’s Arc runner -up, Weld added: "Tarnawa is tired but you'd have to be so proud of the effort she has put in. She was in the form of her life, we knew that, and represented us so well.
"Torquator Tasso's form was very good and was there for all to see. He wasn't running just because it was the Arc and it was a very good renewal of the race.
"We'll see how she comes out of the race and the Breeders Cup is a distinct possibility, having won it last year. We'll take it one day at a time and there is no talk about next year yet."
