The famous silks of the late Mrs Sheila Moore, got a successful airing when Elsie proved much the best of the four runners in the Easyfix Rubber Products Rated Novice Hurdle at Roscommon. Dancing Roe went off the 5/4 favourite to supplement his Kilbeggan gains, with Ellie Mia (ground conditions) and Riverside City (coughing) failing to take up their engagements in the two and a half miler.
Having raced mainly in second, the Paul Townend-ridden Elsie (5/2) asserted from before the second last and she eventually came home at her ease by five and a half lengths from the 'jolly.'
Tom Mullins trains Elsie and he said: "I'd say she was just being a woman at Ballinrobe (finished a disappointing seventh there).
"Maybe it was the dead ground then and she did miss the break as well. She loved that ground today and as she gets older I would say she won't want it any worse than good to yielding.
"There are plenty of races in Galway for her like the mares handicap hurdle at the weekend." (DM & EM)
