Ossifer Hops won the extended 2m2f maiden hurdle in Downpatrick by the narrowest margin to bring up a double for Gordon Elliott.
The 9/2 shot was locked together with 6/5 favourite Ring O Roses on the uphill climb for home and got the verdict under a strong drive from Denis O'Regan.
The duelling pair drew seven lengths clear of third-home Artiste D'ainay (5/2).
Assistant trainer Lisa O'Neill said: "It was obviously a lot closer than we thought.
"Denis gave him a superb ride - he wasn't really travelling past the stands with a circuit to go.
"Denis knows him really well and he stayed all the way to the line. He battled it out - he has such a game, gritty attitude.
"He has turned the form around with Henry's horse (de Bromhead, Ring O Roses) in their maiden hurdle in Navan. Definitely (extra trip helped).
"He will probably be campaigned throughout the summer because he will enjoy the drying ground going into the summer months.
"Denis has so much talent and you see how strong he is in the finish as well. He has got the experience to boot, there is no point in ever telling a man like Denis what to do! He knows how to read a race and what to do."
Corey McGivern steered Kelly's Birr home for Elliott in the preceding race on the card.
