Getaway Queen notched an eighth career success at Dundalk today, being the well backed winner (12/1 — 15/2) of Dundalk's opening Irishinjuredjockeys.com Handicap, for all-Ireland hurling winning captain and Cork owner Mark Landers.
The Ken Budds-trained eight year old mare was produced from mid-division by jockey Paddy Harnett to eventually lead inside the final furlong, for a half-length win over Roman Song
Harnett later said “she has been mixing it between the Flat and over sticks and was in tip-top order today.
“She travelled super the whole way, the pace was even and when the gaps came she took them easily. She does get lazy in front but that is probably not a bad thing either.
“It’s nice to get a spare ride - unfortunately Jake Coen is sick and our thoughts are with him.”
