Edmundo was given a fine ride by Ben Dalton to land the spoils in the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle at Navan.
The bottom weight was held up in the early stages of the two-mile contest before taking closer order turning for home.
There were plenty in with chances going to two out but it was Richie Rath's charge who hit the front travelling best.
He kicked on before the final flight and stayed on well in the closing stages to record a two-and-three-quarter length success over 20/1 shot Whosaidso
It was a welcome winner for Enniscorthy handler Rath, who last visited the winners' enclosure with Close Review at Killarney in May 2010.
The winner had attracted some support this morning, from 8/1 into 11/2, and was sent off 11/2 on course.
Stop The Clock a maiden hurdle winner at Thurles last month, was the 5/2 favourite but could only finish ninth.
There were four jockeys in hot water with the stewards after failing to obey the starter.
Declan Lavery, Paddy Kennedy, Ryan Treacy and Brian Cawley were each given two-day bans for contributing to a false start.
