Edelmira shows her true colours

Edelmira delivered on the promise of her impressive Tipperary maiden win back in April when landing the Group 3 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Give Thanks Stakes at Cork.
Back to the course and distance where she finished fifth of six when 6/4 favourite in the Munster Oaks back in June, the Pat Smullen-ridden Peintre Celebre filly showed that form to be all wrong here.
With the ease in the ground that she obviously craves, the Aga Khan-owned and Dermot Weld-trained three-year-old was delivered down the outer by Smullen to eventually come home three and a quarter lengths in front of Dark Crusader Shell House was third and the favourite, Tarana (also owned by the Aga Khan and this favourite trained by John Oxx) finished fourth after her always prominent effort.
Kris Weld, representing his father, said: "She disappointed the last day when conditions were all against her.
"Soft ground is the key to her. She is in on Arc weekend in a Group 2 for fillies and mares and she'll more than likely get her ground there."
Meanwhile Smullen stated: "I was adamant that she didn't let herself down on the fast ground the last day. She's a smart filly but she's ground dependent.
"All these Aga Khan fillies seem to do is improve and I was very impressed with the way she picked up." (TW & EM)
