Willie Mullins' Deploy The Getaway easily justified 8/15 favouritism in winning Down Royal's opening Molson Coors Maiden Hurdle today, scoring by 18 lengths under Champion Jockey Paul Townend.
Purchased by Cheveley Park Stud for £200,000, from handler Donnchadh Doyle, following his 20 lengths Tallow point-to-point win in February 2019, Deploy The Getaway reappeared following a 760 days absence last March. Today, on his third maiden hurdle attempt, he showed good ability in making all to win eased-down from Kings Keeper
Following the race Townend stated “he couldn't have done that any better, it probably wasn't the strongest race but he had to still come and do it. He is starting to show us what he can show us at home and we are learning about him.
"He was looking around a bit at the second last and it was the only one he missed on the whole circuit.
"Both of his races have worked out well and I think he is progressing and starting to do things a bit better. He will jump a fence as well and is growing up.”
