Easy Game had an easy time of it in the opener at Tramore this evening, as he dismissed his three rivals in the EY Chase.
A familiar sight at the highest level, the Willie Mullins trained gelding was sent off the clear 2/9 favourite in the colours of Wicklow Bloodstock Limited.
Settled in second, the son of Barastraight improved to lead before the second last and a fine jump at the final obstacle sealed the deal, as he kept on well to prevail by three and a quarter lengths.
Razoul (5/1), a winner over the course and distance last month, made a dreadful mistake at the first, but recovered quickly and ran a respectable race to take second under Donagh Meyler for Ray Cody.
Townend, who had just one ride on the card, said: "I was happy enough to take a lead when we were going a good honest gallop.
"He came out of my hands once or twice but I suppose he is used to racing in Grade 1's and needing good jumps everywhere, but today we were dropping back a gear.
"I never felt like I was in trouble or anything and he just done enough."
