Eamon High survived a final flight blunder before winning the Easy Clean Limited Handicap Hurdle at Killarney today, scoring for trainer Henry De Bromhead and jockey Rachael Blackmore.
Blackmore, who steered 90 winners in the season just finished, held the son of Westerner up behind the leaders and improved the gelding to lead after the third last flight. Eventual runner-up Waterville Dancer was behind the leaders when meeting trouble in-running at that point and while Eamon High blundered at the final flight, he stayed on gamely to beat a staying on Waterville Dancer by a neck.
The Stewards later enquired into the interference but left the result stand.
De Bromhead wasn't present and afterwards Blackmore stated “he didn't get a good jump at the last but stuck it out in the end and Henry had him right for today.
He travelled and jumped and it is great for for Michael Kehoe who is a good supporter. When he was in front he was stairy enough and there should be more to come from him.”
