Dunboyne pips Hounds on debut
Dunboyne Express edged out Master Of The Hounds to make a winning debut in the colts & geldings maiden at Leopardstown.
The pair had a great duel inside the final furlong and it was Declan McDonogh's mount who just had his head in front on the line ahead of the 8/11f.
The winner had proved easy to back on course (6/4 to 7/4) after attracting support in the morning.
"He ran very green. When the penny dropped he got there a bit too soon. He'll improve a good bit from that," said trainer Kevin Prendergast.
"We like him. He was always nice and a good tempered horse. We'll look at the Anglesey (Curragh July 18th) or something like that."
Boylesports were impressed enough to give the winner a 33/1 quote for next year's 2000 Guineas.
