Dullea flying with second winner
One of Champion Chaser Newmill’s former trainers, James Dullea, recorded a second career win at Tramore today (his first coming at Limerick last Wednesday) when his Firebird Flyer landed the Ani-Pets Veterinary Clinic Maiden Hurdle.
Ridden by in-form Brian Hayes, the son of Winged Love was helped by a good jump at the final flight to eventually see off the challenge of point to point winner Mazuri Cowboy on the run-in.
Afterwards Dullea, who trained Newmill in his later years, said “Firebird Flyer is a nice horse but wants a trip. He ran fine ay Limerick earlier this week but I was still a bit disappointed in him.
“However he came out of the race very well and came here today in better form than going into Limerick. He’ll have a little break now after his two quick runs and we’ll probably wait unFebruary with him.
“I’m over the moon with the win and am delighted for his owner Catriona O’Donovan, a country singer from Bandon.”
