Off a 262 day break Dromnea put up a lovely performance to land the Southampton Goodwill Chase at Listowel under Mark Enright.
In the five horse two and a half miler Enright held Dromnea up in fourth.
The ten-year-old Presenting gelding moved closer in third four out.
The 9/1 chance was on terms before the next and he soon led.
Setting sail for home from before the penultimate, Dromnea kept on well from before the last to defeat well-backed favourite Hidden Cyclone by two and three parts of a length.
Winning trainer Mouse Morris said: "His jumping got him into the race and he was probably in front a bit soon.
"He's not an out and out three-miler but he'll probably get an entry in the Munster National.
"I'd say we'll try and find another race like that. He's fairly capable at his best but my horses were sick last year."
