Amateur jockey Paul Cawley registered his first win at Wexford today, landing the Monart Destination Spa Ladies Day Tomorrow Beginners Chase on Drive The Bus for his employer Denis Hogan.
The 22 year-old rider, a brother to jockeys Alain and Brian Cawley, will have taken plenty pleasure from the win, producing Drive The Bus from mid-division to lead at the second last fence before staying on well for a length win over dual Champion Jockey Paul Carberry on 15/8 favourite Officer Cadet
Cawley, from Craughwell in Galway, later reported "that's my first winner on the track but I've had five point-to-point wins.
"I'm full-time with Denis Hogan and he has been very good to me and has given me loads of opportunities on the track in professional races - I can't thank him enough.
"Hopefully that will get the ball rolling for me now."
