Magical Dream paid a nice compliment to the “Moyglare” form when taking the C L Weld Park Stakes in convincing fashion for Aidan and Joseph O’Brien.
The 100/30 second favourite, fourth behind Sky Lantern in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes here earlier this month, was sent on about two furlongs out and kept on well inside the final furlong.
The regally bred filly, by Galileo out of the multiple Group 1 winning mare Red Evie, had two lengths to spare over Rawaaq (11/2) at the line, with Uleavemebreathless (12/1) in third.
This Group 3 victory was also an important result in the jockey's championship as O'Brien narrowed the gap to just two (75-73) behind Pat Smullen, who was aboard the runner-up.
Aidan O’Brien said, “She is a grand filly who is improving and ran well the last day in the Moyglare. She is a filly that will stay further.
“She travelled well and quickened up well today. She is in the Prix Marcel Boussac, so we will see about that. She’s a hardy lady.”
Boylesports have introduced Magical Dream at 25/1 for the 1,000 Guineas.
O’Brien also disclosed that stable plans for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe will be finalised around Tuesday or Wednesday but that Joseph will not be aboard Camelot should he run.
“Bar we cut off one of his arms he will not be on Camelot! Nine stone or 8st13lb is the lowest that Joseph will do, so that weight in the Arc is not an option.”
