Doyle/Lordan get quick boost with Empress
Killourney Empress and Wayne Lordan fend off Diamond Daze

Narrowly denied with a promising newcomer, Giorgi in the previous race, Tim Doyle didn't have long to wait for a boost when Killourney Empress also with Wayne Lordan in the saddle, took the Sheridan Electric Handicap at Ballinrobe.
The Holy Roman Emperor mare got to the front in the final furlong but she looked like she'd be claimed by the 'finisher,' Diamond Daze
Of course Lordan is on a real hot streak at present though and he forced his mount home by a head.
"She did it well – she's tough and honest and we got the nod of the head right. I'm delighted with here, she's having a good season," reflected Doyle.
The Thurles trainer then added: "I don't know where we'll go and we'll just see what the weather does. She's after winning two and she had a third so far this season so she's doing well.
"She didn't get much of a run at Killarney but today makes up for it.
"She's a stronger filly this year and when the ground is in her favour we'll keep going."
F. Lynch, rider of To Choose trained by Thomas Gibney, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined To Choose, trained by Thomas Gibney, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
