Trainer Liz Doyle sent out a second consecutive winning bumper debutante today as her Ballybawn Belter (13/2) landed Leopardstown's concluding TRI Superstore Bumper under jockey Jodie Townend.
Doyle's newcomer Mitiva was a Thurles winner on February 24 and Valirann-sired Ballybawn Belter today defeated another debutante Joshua Des Flos a half-brother to Balko Des Flos, by a length and three parts.
Doyle previously raced Cheltenham Festival winners Al Ferof and Cheltenian in bumpers and following her latest success said “my head lad James Rath bought her at the Landrover Sale and he's done most of the work with her.
“From her first bit of work she's always been super, went really well in her only schooling race and it's just been all good since day one.
“I really fancied her today and knew she'd handle a nice bit of ground. I'm just thrilled for the owners, James and Rachael Rath. I think she'll be sold and I'll try and hang on to her. She's a nice filly, jumps great and has a nice future.”
