Trainer Gordon Elliott and jockey Paul Carberry combined for the second legs of doubles for the pair when Vasco Du Mee landed the Rainbow Communications Handicap Chase at Down Royal today.
Carberry earlier landed the featured Grade 1 JN Wine Chase on Noel Meade's Road To Riches while Elliott's Don Cossack himself looked top class in winning the Grade 2 Powers Irish Whiskey Chase.
Vasco Du Mee, a half brother to last year's JN Wine Chase winner Roi Du Mee, routed his rivals, improving to lead four out and in the end stretching well clear for a 31 lengths win over Milan Breeze
Elliott later stated “he seemed to handle the ground well and he jumped well. He handles better ground and will go for something similar. Paul gave him a good ride.”
