Mags Mullins completed a first and last race double, as newcomer Mumbo Bay took the bumper, the Follow Us On Facebook INH Flat Race under Patrick Mullins.
The five-year-old son of Vinnie Roe was 5/1 this morning with Paddy Power, opening on track at 4/1 before going off the 7/2 joint favourite.
Having tracked the leaders for much of the contest, he improved to challenge from over two furlongs out.
He was ridden to lead with a furlong and a half left to race, and he soon went clear, scoring by five lengths at the line. Silver Pheasant ran a nice race to take second at 14/1 under Steven Clements for John Murphy, while Uber Alles (25/1) also put in a good performance to finish a length and a half back in third under Johnny Burke for his father Liam.
Point-to-point winner Its Not For You was the other joint-favourite, but he could only manage eighth under Paul Power for Eoin Doyle, after being well-supported on-course from 5/1.
There was an nasty incident early in the home straight with Ivy Gate slipping up and bringing down both Darkdeserthiway and Bedrock Lady
Thankfully the three jockeys involved in the melee, Andrew Latta, Damian Shekan and David Mullins, were all ok.
Mags Mullins said afterwards: "He is a good horse but I thought he might need the run.
"The ones that surprise you are normally the nice ones. We will see how he comes out of this, he could go for a winners bumper and he jumps well."
The winner is a full-brother to smart stable mate Mumbo Jumbo who has three wins to his name.
