Shane Foley completed a quick double as he got bottom weight Rock On Ciara up to take the George Fitzmaurice Handicap over a mile for trainer Joe Murphy.
The daughter of Rock Of Gibraltar was sent off at 5/1 this afternoon having run well on her last start to finish just two lengths second to Prince Jock at Wexford.
The 10/3 favourite Swerve for Dermot Weld and Pat Smullen attempted to make all but she just couldn’t fend off the late challenge of Rock On Ciara and went down by a neck at the line. Toraidhe for Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning finished a further two and three parts of a length back in third at 6/1.
Winning trainer Joe Murphy said afterwards: "Her toughest and honesty got her through.
"I was worried about the ground but she got through it. She is better on better ground.
"She is in foal to Rip Van Winkle and can race until September."
The winner was recording her third career success and her third at Co Kerry venues, with her other two wins coming at Killarney.
