Double for Dobbs as Ravensbury takes the last
Prunella Dobbs completed an across the card double in the final race of the day at Listowel, the Kerry Group Flat Race, as her Ravensbury with Katie Walsh aboard just got the better of Great Oak by a nose.
On his debut at Gowran in April of last year, the winning son of Turtle Island ran a cracker to finish just a length and a half behind Hidden Cyclone.
However he was off the track for over a year then and only reappeared at Cork this July finishing well behind Blossom Gate.
Sent off at 5/1, he was always prominent and led the field into the straight. The John Nicholson trained Great Oak at 11/1 then strongly pressed him for the lead over a furlong out and after a titanic battle the judge was required to separate the pair with Ravensbury getting the verdict by just a nose.
The duo went twelve lengths clear of the third who was Fairy Court at 14/1 while the 9/4 favourite Robin Angevin finished outside the placings a further eight lengths back in fourth. Jills Ballet was the first part of the double for Dobbs as she took the third at the Curragh earlier this afternoon.
