Don't Be Bitin edges Tipp win for Fogarty
Amateur jockey Mikey Fogarty got the best out of Don’t Be Bitin, despite the gelding jumping right throughout, to edge out Bobs Pride by a short head in a closely run Tipperary Town And District Chase at Tipperary today.
Despite jumping right throughout, Don’t Be Bitin was undoubtedly aided by the omission of the final fence (due to damaged ground on the take-off side) and bypassing that obstacle, Bobs Pride, under Robbie Power, edged ahead and appeared the most likely winner. However, Bobs Pride found little under an admittedly ill-judged, hands and heels drive, allowing Don’t Be Bitin to rally to regain the lead at the line.
Afterwards Don’t Be Bitin’s trainer Colm Murphy reported “he’s a tough little horse and today’s conditions suited him. The Galway Plate is in the back of my mind for him now but we’ll freshen him up and see how he is before running him next.”
