Keith Donoghue completed a treble at Sligo this afternoon when Broken Ice produced a game front-running performance to land the Brenda Anderson Memorial Beginners Chase.
It was also a double on the card for trainer Gavin Cromwell who had teamed up with Donoghue with Faith Du Val in the opener.
Broken Ice went to post 2/1 favourite having been second on his most recent outing at Tramore.
He was to the fore throughout with Clonbury Bridge in the two-mile-five contest and the 2/1 favourite stayed on best from the last to record a three-parts-of-a-length victory.
Cromwell said: "He's been banging on the door and he was entitled to win that off his chase mark, so it's great that he's got his head in front over fences.
"He'll stay further and will go on slower ground as well. We'll probably go handicapping now."
Donoghue added: "He's a very honest horse and tries his best. That ground is after tightening up a little and he just got away with it."
