Dog men taking Dundalk by storm
Reggie Roberts has his small string in fantastic form at present and the Kildare handler continued the greyhound racing theme began by Paul Hennessy at Dundalk last night as his filly Night Glimmer convincingly landed division one of the Hen & Stag Packages at Dundalk Stadium Handicap.
Roberts' dogs have been winning races at Shelbourne Park and other venues for many years now but his equine exploits have been putting the Rathangan, County Kildare man in the headlines lately, and here Night Glimmer, reappearing off a 162 day break, led half a mile from home, the chestnut was clear three furlongs out and she went on to easily account for Cool Athlete by four and a half lengths.
Johnny Feane, representing Roberts, said: "We were hoping she'd win today. The plan was to go for a 50 to 80 here in a couple of weeks time but we'll have to see what the handicapper does now.
"She might take her chance off a light weight in a better grade."
