Dixie Highway found a bit more in the latter stages of Division Two of the extended mile and three handicap to take the prize by a neck.
The handicapper would have been delighted to see a five-way go for the line. In fact the first five home were separated by a neck, a short head, a head and a short head.
The winner, partnered by Chris Hayes, was far from unbacked at 7/1 having been available at 16s this morning. Blue Skimmer at 10/1 and Ripped the 7/2 favourite, took minor honours in second and third respectively.
Pat Flynn, saddling his first winner of the season, said: "His owner (Frank Terry) has been very patient with him and hopefully he'll be rewarded this year. Frank is a former school friend of mine from Rathgromack and is now based in New York."
