Distillate mugged Surpass And Shine in the final strides of the first division of the Mallow Handicap in Cork.
Surpass And Shine looked home for all money inside the final 100 yards of this seven-furlong contest, but Adam Caffrey conjured up a finish from nearest rival Distillate who pounced by a neck at 14/1.
Favourite backers got burned by runner-up Surpass And Shine (15/8), while Blue Wood (11/1) was a short head away in third at 11/1. Church Mountain (10/1) rounded out the places in fourth at 10s.
Two of Distillate's four career successes have come over seven furlongs in Cork.
Caffrey said: "She was good and tough, we got a lovely position and got a lovely lead everywhere into the race.
"She can hang right in her races and does so especially in the latter stages and, while a furlong down I didn't think I was getting there, she toughed it out well. Seven furlongs is her ideal distance as the older she is getting."
