Second-season trainer Diego Dias recorded his seventh success of 2024 today, landing Dundalk's opening Happy Christmas From All At Dundalk Stadium Maiden with the Colin Keane-partnered, well-backed Sharkii (2/1 — 6/4f).
Champion jockey Keane raced behind the leaders on the Mark Daniel Racing Limited-owned gelding who eventually scored narrowly by a neck and a nose from Happy For Evva and Just Jump
Keane commented "to be fair to him, he has been consistent all year and was due his turn.
"I'd say he actually feels like a horse that could actually end up going further. Maybe he is after relaxing with racing. He felt like a horse who needed every yard of the six (furlongs) and would have no problem going seven.
"He has really hit the line well today and he's a grand type of horse. He is good-looking horse and handles the surface. Hopefully now they will have a bit of fun with him during the summer."
