Dicebox battled back well to get his head in front close home before surviving a stewards enquiry in the Kerry Foods Handicap Hurdle at Down Royal.

Always front rank on the final circuit, the Shark Hanlon trained gelding was in contention for the lead approaching two out. Touching down in second, he veered right and bumped Lily Light Foot eventual second).

The latter jumped the last in front, so arguably had every chance but was reeled in late on by the winner who edged the verdict by a neck.

Winning jockey Jordan Gainford said: "To be honest with you, he was very tough.

"The last day in Wexford was a bit of a disaster with the second-last bypassed. After it, Shark was delighted that he showed he stayed three miles.

"He likes good ground and jumps well. He was a little bit slow at the first but after that he got into a lovely rhythm."
