Sue Bramall hasn't had many runners in Ireland since Snooze provided her with a latest win on these shores in November 2012, but the Bunclody, County Wexford-based trainer struck again when 16/1 shot Diamond Cauchois ran away with the Matty Ryan Memorial Handicap Hurdle at Thurles.
French-import Diamond Cauchois, a winner in his native land, also in the Bramall silks, began here off a mark of 108 and he made light of that assessment under Andrew Ring. Followmeuptocarlow gave chase in the straight but it was soon apparent that he was fighting a losing battle as Diamond Cauchois crossed the line with six and a half lengths to spare.
"I didn't really fancy him today as I thought it would happen a bit quick. He had good form in France though, should improve again for that and will stay further," remarked Ring.
"Sue moved all her horses back to Bunclody during the summer and has 10 or 11 riding out. She is hands on and they're all nice horses to look forward to."
