Deegan's Bashir gets job done
Bashir Biyoum Zain one of three Paul Deegan runners in the attheraces.com Cheltenham Megasite (C & G) Maiden got the job done by half a length in the hands of Fran Berry.
Having his second start, Jaber Abullah's Green Desert colt found what was required under pressure to lead in the final fifty yards, accounting for the front-running Silver Soldier The big disappointment of this event (another reverse for short-price favourite backers after Blue Dahlia in race two) was Luan Cincise (found to be badly lame afterwards but evens morning into 4/6) who folded very tamely to finish sixth.
Deegan commented: "He did it nice. He had a nice first run last year when he was a bit green but he stayed on well. Fran got us out of trouble. It didn't look promising there for a while but he gave him a great ride.
"He is a nice little sort of horse. Where we go next I don't know. I have eight yearlings for the owner and have about the same amount of older horses for him. I have some nice older horses this year."
