Royal Highness gained a deserved breakthrough win at Dundalk today as the Henry De Bromhead trained filly justified 2/1 favouritism under Bill Lee in the BetVictor Bet E5 Get E30 Offer Maiden.
The daughter of Dream Ahead finished second on career debut at Tipperary in June and while she failed to win in six subsequent starts, did collect prizemoney on each start and today got off the mark at the seventh start when beating runner-up Arnhem comfortably by three lengths.
Lee was completing a double having earlier steered Apricot Moon to a maiden win and following the race the Group 1 winning jockey stated ““it was a good performance. The draw wasn't great but we went a good gallop and I was able to get into a nice position, not too wide the whole way,” said Lee.
“I travelled well into the straight, picked up well, and she's won just doing enough.
“Hopefully there is more to come from her. Hopefully now that she has her head in front she can continue on an upward curve.”
