Lucky Zebo has proved a good money-spinner for connections this year and made it four wins from his last five starts in the Golf Societies At Gowran Park Handicap Hurdle to complete a quick double for trainer Henry de Bromhead.

The six-year-old gelding, previously successful twice in handicap hurdles plus a beginners chase, was very strong in the market with offers of 7/4 overnight hardening to 8/13 at the off.

The odds-on shot jumped to the front at the penultimate flight and was pushed out by Rachael Balckmore on the run-in to beat the always prominent Krabat by a length and three quarters. Rock On Seamie was a further eight and a half lengths back in third.

De Bromhead said, “That was great and Jamie (Lawson Maher, owner) was down here so that was good.

“He’s progressing. We went over fences for a couple of runs which he did really well but there wasn’t a whole lot coming up so we said we’d come back and have a look over hurdles. It was lovely to see him go and do that again.

“We’ve had loads of fun with him so far and hopefully he’ll keep improving.”

De Bromhead was also successful in the previous Listed mares hurdle with Magical Zoe
