De Bromhead doubles up with Fort George
Henry de Bromhead completed a double in the concluding Shannon House Foynes Flat Race when Fort George stayed on stoutly under Nina Carberry to land the spoils.
The 7/2 second favourite (from 5/1) was sent to the front approaching the straight, and was kept up to his work to beat Ravenclaw by three and a half lengths with Fairymount Lord a further length and a quarter adrift in third.
De Bromhead, successful earlier in the day with the impressive Loosen The Load, said, “I was very disappointed with him at Wexford last time but he just didn't seem right that day. He may go for a winners bumper and, as he loves jumping fences, could then be sent chasing.”
