Amateur jockey Tom Hamilton registered a second winner on his third ride for trainer Henry De Bromhead today, easily landing Kilbeggan's opening www.kilbegganraces.com (QR) Maiden Hurdle on well-bred Some Dove
The race was confined to horses which hadn't been placed in three previous runs, and the 18/5 favourite (7/2ish) scored easily by 14 lengths from fast-finishing 85-rated Alfieiri.
Some Dove's dam Lonesome Dove is a half-sister to Irish National winner Thunder And Roses and following the race Hamilton said “it worked out well. It wasn't really the plan to be so far back but they went hard and she struggled to get a position early.
“I let them off, they came back and she picked up very well and was strong at the finish.
“The ground is just on the slow side, it's well watered and they've done a great job.”
