Sixty six to one chance Bracklin Princess ran a big race as the Clearys attempted to win the Sean Cleary Memorial Fillies Maiden at Galway. She eventually faded into fourth as the top three in the betting came to the fore, led home by 7/2 chance Dawn Choir
Bred by Cheveley Park Stud Ltd and now owned and trained by the Holdens, Dawn Choir had it to do with favourite Alaykha on Killarney form from 25 days back.
However under Declan McDonogh the consistent daughter of Fastnet Rock stayed on best inside the last to defeat Bound and Alaykha by a length and a quarter and two lengths.
Bracklin Princess was four lengths back in fourth.
"Maybe the last day in Killarney we thought she was a small bit disappointing but she still ran well," said winning trainer Ellmarie Holden.
"All her runs she has been there or thereabouts and got the head in front today and is after improving an awful lot.
"We'll see how she comes out of this and today was the plan to win the maiden. We'll make a plan again in the next few days and hopefully she'll get a run in again in the next few weeks.
"That's her ground and she's a very well bred filly.
"That's Declan's first winner for me."
