Danequest appreciated the return to the all-weather as he claimed the Light Up Your Night Handicap at Dundalk for Roger Sweeney.
The gelding made little impression on heavy ground at Cork on his last outing and found the quicker surface more to his liking.
Kevin Manning produced the 14/1 shot to lead at the furlong pole and he kept on well in the closing stages for a length victory over Absorbing
The winner has been a regular at Dundalk over the winter and was gaining his first all-weather success. He has previously won twice on the Flat on turf and also once over hurdles, all on good ground.
“He done it handy enough. He handles this track well,” said Sweeney.
“He hated the ground in Mallow last time so we decided to take him back up here.
“If the ground dries up he'll go hurdling but he won't run on bad ground. We'll try and come back here again with him.”
