The eyecatching run that Fran Berry got from Dane Street reaped dividends as the pair collared Long Journey Home deep inside the final furlong for a length and a half success.
It must have seemed like a Long Journey Home for jockey Wayne Lordan as he cut out the pace and clung to the inner rail on the turn in. However, the winner ground him down in this mile and a quarter handicap to score at 6/1 for Jessica Harrington.
Long Journey Home was runner-up for the third time in five outings, this time at 8/1 while 25/1 outsider Castle Bar Sling came in third under seven-pound claimer Connor King.
Jessica Harrington said of the four-year-old who was sporting cheekpieces: “She ran a great race in Navan and deserved that. She’s a very big filly and probably only coming to herself. I’m delighted with her.”
Recent Gowran Park winner Bensoon for Michael Halford and Shane Foley, was the nicely backed 3/1 favourite, from 6s in the morning. He stayed on for fourth, a neck out of the placings.
